VT Shooting Urban Legend Email

Let me start off by saying this email has been proven false and no where has there been evidence that says other wise. This story is a vicious lie that somebody thought would be a cute rumor.

Subject: urgent prayer request
Hi all,

I just got off the phone with a sweet friend that is going through some major hard circumstances right now (of her own). However, she just found out that one of her best friends in San Antonio , Yolanda Bear, had a daughter at Virginia Tech that was killed yesterday. Yolanda, her husband and eight year old daughter managed to get an emergency flight out to Virginia and were trying to hurry to get loaded up and go to the airport. In the midst of backing the car in the driveway her husband accidentally ran over their 8 year old daughter and she died as well. Yolanda is in hospital under sedation at the moment. Don’t know about the husband. My friend is trying to get down there to be with her asap but, as I said, has her hands full of difficulties herself here at home and feels very helpless! I would appreciate your prayers for this family. They are believers. My friend had the privilege of leading the student at Tech to the Lord in 2nd grade. My heart just breaks for them.

Yolanda King 1955-2007

First daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King jr died May 15, 2007 by speculation of obesity and heart problems. She collapsed in her brother's doorway (Dexter King), and couldn't be revived. Age 51 Yolanda King was still a strong and motivated woman. She was an actress, ran a production company and appeared in numerous films including "Ghosts of Mississippi." She played Rosa Parks in the 1978 miniseries "King."

Her death came less than a year and a half after her mothers. Coretta Scott King, who died in January of 2006 after battling ovarian cancer and the effects of a stroke. Her struggle inspired Yolanda to work with the American Heart Association to raise awareness about strokes, especially among blacks.

Yolanda King was apart of so many organizations and believed deeply in her father's message. Her presence will definitely be remembered and carried on by many.

Paris Hilton in....Jail?!?!?!

Yes I know you've seen it on the news or read it on the net, Paris Hilton will be serving a 45 day sentence at the Century Regional Detention Center, Los Angeles County's jailhouse for women. The judge ruled she was in violation of the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. Of course an apology was in order as she puts it, "I'm very sorry and from now on I'm going to pay complete attention to everything. I'm sorry and I did not do it on purpose at all."

The story is she thought her license was initially suspended for 30 days and that she was allowed to drive for work related issues during the next 90 days. She said that when an officer who stopped her in January made her sign a document stating her license was suspended, she thought he was mistaken and did not actually look at the document.

Hilton's spokes person also stated the same story but the judge kindly called it bull.

Usually celebrities are allowed to choose the jail but not in this case. Her time will consist of 3 low sodium meals a day (no pork & beef), 1 hour outside her cell for a shower, tv, outdoor activities, or talking on the phone.

June 5th is the date of her departure from her glamorous life. But hey it's only 45 days, she'll be OK.

Emotional.
Is it hard for you to cope with it? Are you the type of person to think about it almost all the time? Or do you get over it quickly? Do things get to you a lot or most things, you can brush off quickly?

Me, personally. Things seem to get to me a lot, and it stays with me for a while. I tend to hold on to the past rather then thinking about the future. If a person close to me hurts me, I think about waaaay too much and for waaaay too long. You can call me a very paranoid person. I'm close to only trusting myself. Which isn't at all healthy. I am currently learning to be optimistic about myself, and the world. It's actually relieving and keeps me focused on my daily routine.

Racial Disparity in Sentencing

How exactly do you feel about it?

Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is in all cases. And I'm not the type to say "The man is holding us down". Because personally I think that's bullshit.

Either way it still happens. It's longstanding in the US criminal justice system, and frankly horrible.

One man (white) kills his wife and admits he accidently pushed her to the cement floor a little too hard where her head smashed into it. Even though he put her body in a car to make it seem like she had an accident down a snowy hill. Sentenced 5-10 years. After 1 year he says he had NOTHING to do with it and the whole trial, including his lawyer, was all crap. His tapes and confessions were tampered with, even though he flat out said it in court.

Another man (black) shoots a guy in the leg. Yes the guy is still alive and well. Since he looked for him prior to the shooting he is now serving life with no chance of parole.

Unbelievable! Don't get me wrong, neither of these guys are excused for the vicious thing they did. But really! Come On!

Not all cases work like this but even a few cases like these are unacceptable.

Now do not get me wrong, what he did was not right but I'll be damned if I have to go on national TV and apologize to my child.


I can't even believe that message is even public. Disagree or not, I have a son and I will tell you right now. I have never and will never kiss my child's ass. I am his mother and he is my son. My world, my pride and joy, but he knows exactly where his place is. I'd never do or say anything to mentally or physically harm my son but I definitely won't have him running around like the kids on "Super Sweet 16". Period.

Mary Magdalene

Just a question. What do you think about these pictures?

Some believe it's Mary Magdalene. Some believe it's John the 'young feminine apostle'. Some believe that Da Vinci was homosexual and many of his male models were feminine.

Just to clear a few things up. Mary Magdalene was FAR from a whore, or prostitute. She was indeed a wealthy, honorable, respected and loyal woman. The reasoning so many people believe she was a prostitute was a mistake made by Pope Gregory the Great, who confused in his sermon Mary M with another Biblical character in 591 AD. This one mistake lasted for centuries, and was finally cleared up by the Vatican in 1969. Yet this rumor continues.

The question of who this figure is, has ran amok in society. Many people outraged and confused. I myself due to certain facts think it's Mary. But I do not know for sure. I will not go deeper into my reasoning until I've done more research. That's who I am. I believe in gathering facts before making outrageous accusations. lol

It's actually been said that the church was dedicated to Mary Magdalene and was suppose to be ran by women. But hey! They world is ran by men so I guess they had the last say so. Keep in mind I'm definitely not saying this. Just passing information a long. If you don't agree, definitely let it be known.

Dating =O!

One of the biggest and most talked about subjects in the world! Well maybe not the world, but definitely in America. It seems like most people spend most of their lives either looking or being with their "perfect mate".

There is so much pressure when it comes to dating. Long term relationships, sex, imperfections, buga boos, casual dating, marriage, and so on. What would man do without woman and vice versa.

Of course you have people saying, "People should focus more on school and working and think about dating later" Actually a lot of people preach that. But I'll be damned if they practice it. I'm not asking for an opinion about when people should date because I've heard it all before. I'm strictly talking about dating and what you think about it.

Gays...The Touchy Subject

So many people have different opinions about being gay. Some feel it's evil, some feel it's perverted, some people feel it's okay, some people have no feelings at all about it. A lot of people use the bible as a shield when talking about gays. Others are just personally disgusted. Though the world has changed a lot, there are still so much tension against gays.

Well i feel the only way you should EVER use the bible against gays are when you have and presently is living a sin free life. If a person has personal issues with gays then so be it. But i truly don't ever feel that it's right to try to use the bible when 98% of this country doesn't live by the bible.

Secondly, I feel like taking away a persons right just because of their sexual preference is wrong. A lot of people I know who don't even agree with the whole gay thing still feel being stripped of your rights is crap.

Instead of thinking "hey! in the bible it's wrong to be gay so they shouldn't have the right to be married in a church." Think about the rights they have the power to take away from YOU. Continue to let shit like this happen, and the country will continue to go down hill.

That's just my opinion. I'm not for, and definitely not against gays. It's just not my business who the hell is in their bed. My personal or social life has never been nor never will be disrupted if a gay person got married. Be serious.

GED vs Certificate of Completion

So I know a lot of people have graduated high school. But many others haven't. Major set backs have stopped youth from graduating high school. Mostly due to their own fault but either way it's a big problem.

One way to go about continuing education would be to get a GED or High School Equivalency Diploma.

Another would be a Certificate of Completion Bush put out that's apart of his "No Child Left Behind" Act.

In my opinion the best way to go would be the GED or High School Equivalency Diploma. These diplomas are being more and more accepted nationwide. At jobs, junior colleges, and even universities. Taking these tests, studying hard, and achieving a decent score on the SATs/ACTs can take you as for as a regular diploma with hard work of course. A goal oriented person who is ready succeed can do great in life with a GED of HSED.

Unlike with a Certificate of Completion which I feel is total BS. You can't do much of anything with it and it can actually hold you back from succeeding. A lot of jobs won't accept it. With this Certificate of Completion you can never ever in your life time:
1. Go to the armed forces
2. Go to college
3. go to trade school
4. go to journeyman's school
5. go to beauty school
6. go to culinary arts school
7. get a federal loan EVER

I feel the Certificate of Completion is the lazy way out and shouldn't even be available.

Split Personalities

Okay, this is a really irritating topic. Having one personality for the internet, and a different one as soon as they sign off. It's not uncommon at all but it's questionable. Why would a person want to be somebody else? Does that mean their real life is wack? If so why not be this net person in real life? Is there really a such thing as taking the net too seriously since we're actual people typing to each other?

So many unanswered questions I have.

In my opinion, when people sign up and grow accustomed to community web sites, their personalities change. I mean their over all personalities. A lot of people might not think so but regardless of how different you act offline i believe you still will see a difference.

I've been on a certain site for over 2 years now and I've seen people change over time. Some from nice to asshole, from quiet to popular, from stupid to fake intelligent. People have fallen onto so many net bandwagons that you will never really know how a person is unless you spend some actual reality time with them.

The biggest fad would be the sarcastic comments. For me it's gotten old and really stupid. But I also feel that if it's fun for you and it's not really hurting anybody then, hey great!
